MJHA Fall Spectacular Schedule

Friday, October 5th
6-8 P.M. Cattle Check-In
7-9 P.M. MJHA Pizza party and social

Saturday, October 6th

8-9 A.M. Cattle Check-In
10 A.M. Showmanship begins with seniors, intermediate, juniors, pewee,
and adult.

15 minute break, starting junior breed/market show with heifers, bulls, steers, and
cow/calf.

MJHA Fall Spectacular 2018 Rules & Requirements

ELIGIBILITY:
-Exhibitor must be 7 years old and not 22 years old by Jan 1, 2018. All cattle must be solely owned by the exhibitor or sibling of exhibitor making the entry, by entry deadline.
-Open to all Hereford youth exhibitors in and out of state.

ENTRIES:
-Entry fees are non-refundable, $30 for each animal entered. Entries must be postmarked on or before Sept 20, 2018. Late entries will be accepted until time of check-in for $45/animal.

Junior Show Entry Form(PDF)

ARRIVAL:
-Jr. cattle must be on the grounds and checked in by 9 a.m. on October 6th.

CHECK-IN:
-Check-in will be Friday, October 5th from 6-8 p.m, and Saturday, October 6th from 8-9 a.m. Registration certificates must be presented at check-in time. Tattoos and RFID tags (required) will be checked and must correspond to registration papers. Registration applications, faxes or photocopies, as well as sale copies will be accepted.

SHOWMANSHIP:
-Exhibitors pre-register for showmanship on entry form. Showmanship will begin Saturday, October 6th at 10 a.m. with seniors followed by intermediates, juniors, peewee and adult. Classes will be divided by age as of Jan. 1, 2018.

GROOMING REGULATIONS:
-Use of false tail heads or adding of hair or hemp is prohibited. No powder can be used. Coloring agents may be used on the legs and tail switch. No coloring agents may be used above the animal’s flank. NO forced administration of fluids to create gut fill will be allowed. Violation will result in the disqualification of the entry and exhibitor.

RESPONSIBILITY:
-The MJHA board and members will not be responsible for any loss by death, injury of animal or human, crippling, bruises, theft of items and property, or condemnation.

Stalling:
-Exhibitors are responsible for providing their OWN bedding. Stalls MUST be cleaned prior to leaving fairgrounds.
-Exhibitors may stall at trailers but the area must be clean prior to leaving the fairgrounds.

HOUSING:
-There is one hotel across the street from the fairgrounds. Camping is also available; please include
$30/night for camping with the entries.

JR HEIFERS

SHOWTIMES AND ORDER:

-Heifers will show 15 minutes after the conclusion of the last showmanship class.
-Heifers will show from youngest to oldest. All heifers entered must be registered in the name of the youth exhibitor. Registration certificates must be presented at check-in.
-Class breaks will be decided after all entries have been processed.

JR BULLS

SHOWTIMES AND ORDER:

-Bulls will show following the conclusion of the last heifer class.
-Only bulls born after September 1, 2017 are eligible to show in the Jr. Show.
-Bulls will show from youngest to oldest. All bulls entered must be registered in the name of the youth exhibitor. Registration certificates must be presented at check-in.
-Class breaks will be decided after all entries have been processed.

JR STEERS

SHOWTIMES AND ORDER:

-Steers will show following the last bull class.
-Steers must be registered to show.
-Steers will be shown by weight.
-Class breaks will be decided after all entries have been processed.

COW/CALF

-Cow/calf will start after the last jr. steer class.
-All cow/calf pairs will show together.
-Class breaks will be decided after all entries have been processed.
-Calves at the side of cow-calf pairs may show in separate heifer or bull shows, however additional entry fees will apply.
-Calf at side must be nursing cow.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

– Cattle infected with a communicable disease (warts, ringworm, lice, mange, etc.) may not be brought to the show. Cattle in Modified Accredited Zone (Alcona, Alpena, Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet, Cheboygan, Crawford, Losco, Ogemaw, Otsego, Oscoda, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties) must provide a movement permit and provide proof that the individual animal was TB tested with negative results within 60 days prior to the show. For cattle in the Modified Accredited Advanced Zone no TB testing is required.

OUT OF STATE CATTLE

– Out of state cattle must be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection (health certificate) that list the animal’s official identification exactly as it appears on the animal.
